Cuba has a San Cristobal exclusive. The home of Habanos and Cuban cigars have seen the release of the San Cristóbal de la Habana La Cabaña. The cigar has the same size as the Montecristo Double Edmundo. It’s a Dobles with a 6⅒x50 size. The cigars come in boxes of ten.

San Cristobal de la Habana

In the 14 years that at the Regional Edition program exists, the San Cristobal de La Habana brand has never been used. A full list of Regional Edition cigars can be found on the Cuban Cigar Website. So this release is the first for the brand. It’s not the first Regional Edition for Cuba though. The Caribbean island has received 5 regional editions before.

San Cristobal de La Habana is a 20-year-old brand. It was released in 1999. The brand is named after the original name of Havana and in honor of Cristopher Columbus. Columbus is supposedly the first European to set foot on Cuban soil. The cigars from the first release were all named after old forts protecting the Cuban capital. The San Cristobal de La Habana El Morro was discontinued in 2013 though.

La Casa del Habano

The regular production cigars were always a niche, but the brand was used for several La Casa del Habano exclusive releases. In 2006, three new vitolas were introduced for the LCDH Franchise. All of them were discontinued in 2011. The 6⅜x52 20th anniversario is expected to be released soon. It comes in a humidor commemorating the 20th birthday of the brand.

Another exclusive San Cristobal de La Habana that has been announced yet not been released it the Prado. This cigar, a 5×50 Petit Belicoso, will be available at La Casa del Habano and Habano Specialist stores worldwide. There will also be a San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 commemorative release. This is a limited edition, numbered, humidor with 100 cigars. 500 humidors are made, to commemorate the 500th birthday of Havana.
