Following the break-up between Crowned Heads and ACE Prime/Luciano Cigars and the cease and desist letters back and forth, Crowned Heads moves production of the Le Pâtissier brand from Tabacalera Pichardo to NACSA, a factory owned by Gustavo Cura. Tabacalera Pichardo and Luciano Cigars are part of the same group of owners including Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles.

“Gustavo was instrumental to Mike and I going back to 2011 during the infancy of Crowned Heads,” says Jon Huber, who runs Crowned Heads along with Mike Conder. “Gus opened many doors for us in Nicaragua back then, and it’s amazing that 11 years later it’s come full circle and now we have the opportunity to work with him at NACSA. A big part of our decision in taking Le Pâtissier to NACSA was not only our longstanding personal relationship with Gus, but also his access to some of the best tobaccos available, including Connecticut broadleaf wrapper.”

Le Pâtissier was a single size release but became a full line earlier this year with four sizes. The blend uses a broadleaf wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and a mix of Costa Rican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.

Despite the shift, Huber said nothing else would change about the cigars. The new product is expected in the fourth quarter of this year. For now some other Nicaraguan Crowned Heads cigars remain being produces at Tabacalera Pichardo. These include Juarez, Mil Dias and Serie E.

“Nothing has nor will change on any of our existing brands at Tabacalera Pichardo, and we look forward to growing our business there together with Eradio Pichardo and his team,” said Huber.
