Eddie Van Halen
Many of the cigars from the Nashville cigar company have a link with music. From the Four Kicks, which draws inspiration from a Kings of Leon song, to links with Johnny Cash for Jericho Hill and Juarez. There are many more links to music with cigars from this brand. The CHC Serie E is also inspired by music. By the solo of the Dutch American guitar prodigy Eddie Van Halen in the song Eruption.
“I listened to that solo and saw it as a sonic metaphor for smoking this cigar,” says co-founder of Crowned Heads John Huber in a press release. “From the drum and bass intro, which I saw as the cutting-lighting-prep of the cigar, to the mixing of triads and harmonics which I compared to the complexity of the flavor profile, to the bottoming-out dive bombs that were reminiscent of the finish of the cigar, it al paralleled seamlessly. The CHC Serie E smoking experience is a medium-plus-bodied dance on the edge between technical mastery and random entropy, resolving in balanced, melodious harmony.”
The cigars are made at Tabacalera Pichardo in Esteli, Nicaragua. That’s the factory of ACE Prime, where several other Crowned Heads cigars are born as well. For example the Juarez and Mil Dias. The wrapper on the CHC Serie E is Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro. The binder is from Jalapa, Nicaragua. Jalapa is near the border with Honduras. The filler is all Nicaraguan, with tobaccos from Jalapa, Pueblo Nuevo, and the island of Ometepe.
The cigars will shop in August in boxes of twenty cigars. There are four sizes available. Those are a 4⅜x52 Petit Edmundo, a 5½x50 Serie E 5150, 6⅛x48 Hermoso No 2, and a 6½x54 Sublime. The 5150 is another nod to Van Halen, as their 1986 album has that name. However, it is not the album with the song Eruption, that’ from their 1977 debut Van Halen.
