Cigars International, headquartered in eastern Pennsylvania, is expanding its footprint across the state with the establishment of a new Superstore in South Fayette Township, situated approximately 10 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. The company has acquired land in Newbury Market, near the Pittsburgh International Airport, for this venture.

Sarah Santos, President of Cigars International, shared that the planned opening for the new store is set for the second half of 2024. The Superstore is expected to follow the model of the company’s recent locations in Texas and Florida, featuring a spacious walk-in humidor, an expansive bar, and a patio area.

In 2023, Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG), the parent company of Cigars International, announced its intention to open 6-8 new stores by 2025. The South Fayette location would be the fourth addition following openings in Conroe and Katy, Texas, and a forthcoming store in Jacksonville, scheduled to open in late 2024.

The current list of Cigars International stores includes locations in Jacksonville, Lutz, Tampa, Bethlehem, Hamburg, The Colony, Conroe, Fort Worth, Katy, and San Antonio. The Downtown Bethlehem store differs from the others, featuring a traditional cigar shop setup without a bar or patio.

Cigars International, recognized as the world’s largest retailer of cigars, is part of a comprehensive omnichannel retail operation under STG. In addition to Cigars International, STG owns brands such as Thompson Cigar, Cigar Bid, Cigar.com, Pipes and Cigars, Club Macanudo, General Cigar Co., and Forged Cigar Co. The physical retail stores contribute significantly to STG’s business, constituting nearly 8 percent of the company’s sales, as indicated in the Q3 2023 results. These retail locations, including the new South Fayette Superstore, play a crucial role in STG’s strategy and overall sales performance.
