Charatan comes with a limited edition. Charatan is a private label that until a year ago was owned by the tobacco giant British American Tobacco. Founded in 1902, British American Tobacco is one of the leading big tobacco companies in the world. Their focus is on cigarettes. So a year ago, they sold their cigar and pipe tobacco brand Charatan to the British cigar and pipe tobacco distributor Tor Imports.

Joya de Nicaragua

The first thing that Tor Imports did, was to change the manufacturer. They teamed up with Joya de Nicaragua for a completely new blend and moved production to Esteli. Tor Imports is the distributor for Joya de Nicaragua and several other brands in the United Kingdom. And it has been a success, Charatan is now the best selling brand in the Tor portfolio and the numbers are growing. The brand is extremely popular.

To celebrate that the brand changed owner a year ago, Tor Imports and Joya de Nicaragua created a limited edition. This is the Charatan Colina. And the name refers to Tor. Tor means hill in the Devon area, where the company is located. And Colina is hill in Spanish. The cigar is blended with aged tobaccos from the Joya de Nicaragua tobacco bank. It’s available in one size only and its a Nicaraguan Puro. The 5 ½ x52 Robusto Extra has a Nicaraguan Habana Criollo Viso Colorado Claro wrapper. The binder comes from Jalapa. The filler is a combination of tobaccos from Jalapa and Esteli.
