Cigar News
SpecialsCatch us on Zoom tomorrow
Catch us on Zoom tomorrow. Since the pandemic hit the world, Zoom cigar sessions have been the highlight for many social cigar smokers. Even though a lot of cigar smokers are quarantined, Zoom, and other video conference programs make it available to hang out with fellow cigar smokers. And there are Zoom sessions in all different shapes. From casual hangouts amongst friends to sessions with special guests. Fuente Meerapfel is hosting a daily session which is more like cigar college with very knowable guests.
Zoom on Cigars with Didier Houvenaghel
Didier Houvenaghel, the man behind DH Boutique Cigars, is one of the people with a weekly Zoom show. Always with a specific topic and a specific guest. Houvenaghel is not just a cigar manufacturer, but also an agricultural engineer and author. He studied in Belgium and in Cuba. Not just anywhere in Cuba, but in the province made famous by tobacco, Pinar del Rio. And as an author he wrote the most comprehensive book about cigars and tobacco out there: From Soil to Soul.

Tomorrow’s topic of the Cigars, Culture, and Online Contributions. With two special guests, Klaus Hubry, Javier Blanco Urgoiti, and Ferdinand Piet. Klaus Hruby learned his trade as a journalist at a young age and published articles in various media such as Die Zeit, Der Falter, as well as in renowned literature competitions in German-speaking countries. His love for cigars was ignited during his apprenticeship; his great-grandfather still owned a tobacco field. Klaus Hruby has been writing Austria’s biggest cigar blog, www.derblauedunst.com, since 2014.
Javier Blanco Urgoiti is a Spanish journalist who is crazy about the processes surrounding tobacco that take place before its manufacturing in the cigar factory. His biggest interest is in the secrets of tobacco cultivation. This is an area in which he tirelessly tries to educate himself. Javier started smoking and writing about cigars in 1998, initially for the Spanish magazines La boutique del fumador and La cava de cigarro. Later he became the chief press officer at La Aurora, the oldest tobacco factory in the Dominican Republic. Now he writes for Cigar Journal as a correspondent in Spain.
Ferdinand Piet is a Dutch cigar blogger. His first steps in online media were the Dutch cigar blog sigarenliefhebber, the review website cigarguideblog and in September 2018, after moving to South East Asia, he founded us. We focus on cigar news for the international markets and has been well received by both the industry as well as cigar aficionados from all over the world.
