Author: Inspector Z, the official source for all non-Cuban cigars in New Zealand, will launch a new website tomorrow. The company is following J.C. Newman and PDR, who also launched a new website in the last few weeks.

Tired of not being able to buy non-Cuban cigars in their home country of New Zealand, local aficionados Michael Lee and Grant “The Cigar Merchant” Ovenden launched on September first of 2015. Tomorrow the new design of the website will go live.

the necessity of a new website

Ovenden explained to us that it was a long overdue update for the website. “Over the past 4 years, has enhanced for mobile platforms and other enhancements to e-commerce stores; all of which we have fallen behind in. Our focus was on keeping the cigar aficionados of New Zealand happy.”

The website will contain the new branding, which was rolled out in 2017 on printed material, but not had been used online due to having to customize the back-end of the store significantly to meet New Zealand’s strict SmokeFree 2025 legislation enforced by the New Zealand Ministry of Health. In the last few weeks, Ovenden finally finished fulfilling the requirements, which include no display or branding of tobacco products. Only a simple plain-text table of products is allowed to be displayed to the general public.

“With significant growth in brands being represented in New Zealand, it is critical that we are mobile-friendly as data shows this is there is about a 75/25 split now between mobile and desktop users” Ovenden explains the need for an updated website.

Ovenden also said that significant work has gone into building blogs, 101 / getting started info and more. Those blogs will be rolled out over the course of the month to enhance the information Canteros provides via email-marketing.
