SpecialsBoveda discontinues its butler

Boveda discontinues its butler. For the last few years, Boveda was selling an electronic device that would monitor the humidity and temperature of your humidor. The results were transmitted via Bluetooth to the Boveda app available for Android and iOs. But Boveda had to make the decision to discontinue the Boveda Butler. For current users, don’t worry. Existing sensors will continue to function without change.
Boveda doesn’t mention why the Boveda Butler is discontinued. The Boveda website simply says “Sales of the Butler sensor have been discontinued. But existing sensors will continue to function without any change.”. The product is sold out on the Boveda website, but some retailers still have stock if you want to buy one before it is too late.
Supply chain
Even though Boveda hasn’t made a public announcement, sources of ours did mention why the Boveda Butler is no longer available. Partners of Boveda received the following statement from the worldwide leader in 2-way humidification systems.
After having been challenged with ongoing supply disruptions with this product and, after careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue the Boveda Butler (GBAMS20) effective immediately. We as a company adhere to the highest product standards. This change will allow us to better focus on what we do best – providing the best 2-way humidity control solutions into the Tobacco, Cannabis, and Music markets.
Boveda Inc
It is important to note that all existing Boveda Butler products in the market will continue to be supported by our partner Blustream, and therefore the current and future user experience, as well as customer service, will not be interrupted or affected in any way.
Alternatives
There are several alternatives on the market. One that we use at the office is the sensor from Dominique London, formerly known as La Casa del Tabaco. The difference between this sensor and the Boveda Butler is the wifi connection instead of the Bluetooth connection, making it easier to read the data from anywhere in the world. The downside of that is the battery life, the Boveda Butler lasts longer on a battery than the Dominique London sensor.
