Earlier this year a fire destroyed a lot of tobacco in Cuba’s Pinar del Rio region, the premier growing area for Cuba’s premium tobacco. And last Saturday there was another fire in a tobacco warehouse, belonging to the Tobacco Collection and Benefit Company. The fire destroyed about 30 tons of tobacco. The fire also damages a tobacco house of Carlos Hidalgo with more than 4000 Sun Tobacco cujes, wooden poles that are used to hang to tobacco in the barns to dry and cure.

José Liván Font, vice president of the Tabacuba Business Group, went on location to check the damages. He says there are no injuries and the Ministry of Interior in the area is investigating the cause of the fire.
