An iconic collaboration. Two of the most respected names in the industry are releasing a special project. A project where both companies have been working on for years. Padron Cigars from Nicaragua and Arturo Fuente from the Dominican Republic pay tribute to two industry legends, Carlos Fuente Sr and Jose Orlando Padron. 

The previous generation

The face of Padron Cigars is Jorge (George) Padron, while Carlito Fuente Jr. is the big man at Tabacalera Fuente y Cia. But the previous generation played a huge part to get the companies to where they are now. Carlos Fuente Sr passed away in August of 2016. Jose Orlando Padron passed a little over a year later, in December 2017. Jorge and Carlito are long-time friends. They both work closely with the Cigar Rights of America and other projects. The friendship between the two men is now leading to this very special project. A project honoring their fathers, who both are legends in the industry.

Honoring a previous generation is not uncommon in the cigar industry. Many companies already do that. But this is different. This project gives the tribute a little twist. Jorge Padron and Padron Cigars create a cigar to commemorate Carlos Fuente Sr while Carlito Fuente Jr works on a cigar to commemorate Jose Orlando Padron. 

Lots of unknowns

Not all the details about this iconic collaboration are clear at the moment. The size is though, a 7×50 cigar. Both men wanted to have a long cigar to be able to honor each other’s father. The cigars will not be available separately but only in a humidor style box. The box will have an image of both men. Their signatures are incorporated into the design of the rings. The release date is set at the PCA trade show in July 2021. 

It takes massive trust for both Padron and Fuente to let the other commemorate their father. But the friendship goes so deep that both are very comfortable. And with the reputation of both companies, these cigars promise to be out of this world. Both are heritage brands with a list of awards unrivaled by any other brand. They are the flagships of the cigar industry in their respective countries, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Padron and Fuente are both involved in education and charity. Parts of the proceeds of this project will go to charity as well.
