Altadis USA, one of the largest cigar manufacturers of the world, has showcased a bunch of new cigars at the TPE24 tradeshow in Las Vegas.
Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar
Three years after the introduction of the Saint Luis Rey Carenas line, Altadis U.S.A. debuted the follow up at the TPE24 show.
The Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar comprises a four-vitola collection, boasting a blend that incorporates a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper enveloping Dominican tobaccos utilized for both the binder and filler. The name “Carenas” pays homage to Puerto de Carenas, the former name of the Port of Havana.
Upon its regular production launch, the line will consist of four distinct vitolas, each elegantly presented in 20-count boxes:
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar Corona (5 5/8 x 45) — $9.10 (Box of 20, $182)
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar Robusto (5 x 50) — $9.64 (Box of 20, $192.80)
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar Toro (6 x 52) — $9.75 (Box of 20, $195)
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar Magnum (6 x 60) — $10.69 (Box of 20, $213.80)
Produced at Flor de Copan S.A. in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras, similar to the original Carenas line, the Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar was showcased at TPE 2024, occurring from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 in Las Vegas. Shipments to retailers are anticipated to commence in late February.
Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Midnight Twist
Altadis also introduced the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Midnight Twist vitola maintains the identical internal blend found in the standard Reserva Real Nicaragua line but distinguishes itself through the use of barber pole-style wrappers. While the blend retains its Nicaraguan puro composition, the addition of two contrasting wrappers results in a distinctive striped pattern reminiscent of a classic barber’s pole. The Reserva Real Nicaragua, which made its debut in 2020, is crafted at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A.
Drawing inspiration from the Reserva Real Twisted Love Story, which features barber pole cigars in the regular Reserva Real line, the Midnight Twist is available in two regular production sizes:
- Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Midnight Twist Love Story (4 1/4 x 46) — $9.92 (Box of 25, $248)
- Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Midnight Twist Toro (6 x 54) — $10.92 (Box of 25, $273)
Te Amo comes back
For many enthusiasts, Te-Amo marked their initiation into Mexican cigars. Despite its enduring presence over decades, the brand has experienced relative inertia amid the growing popularity of Mexican San Andrés wrappers. However, this year brings a renewed focus on Te-Amo in the U.S.
Altadis U.S.A., the distributor for Te-Amo in the U.S., introduces Te Amo, the Original San Andrés Valley Cigar. Remarkably, the name incorporates the entirety of the phrase, though Te-Amo appears without a dash. In terms of the blend, it stands as a Mexican puro, harnessing tobacco exclusively from the renowned San Andrés Valley. The Turrent family, owners of the Te-Amo brand, meticulously craft these cigars in Mexico.
Upon its debut at the TPE 2024 trade show in Las Vegas next week, the Te Amo, the Original San Andrés Valley Cigar will be available in three sizes:
- Te Amo, the Original San Andrés Valley Cigar Robusto (5 x 54) — $10.39 (Box of 20, $207.80)
- Te Amo, the Original San Andrés Valley Cigar Toro (6 x 52) — $11.22 (Box of 20, $224.40)
- Te Amo, the Original San Andrés Valley Cigar Magnum (6 x 60) — $12.71 (Box of 20, $254.20)
This enticing new line is scheduled to hit stores on Feb. 1, following its unveiling at the trade show. Additionally, Altadis U.S.A. announces that Alejandro Turrent will be part of an event series in the spring.
