Agio present at Dutch Big Smoke. And just like last year, the family-owned Dutch cigar company brings out the big guns. Francisco Batista, the blender and general manager of the Agio Caribbean Tobacco in the Dominican Republic is joining the other confirmed cigar manufacturers at the events.

Batista joined Royal Agio as the Factory Operations Manager a decade ago. That was a dream come true for the passionate cigar smoker, and native Dominican. Within a few years, he was promoted to General Manager for Agio Caribbean Tobacco. He also became the master blender. And his luck didn’t stop there. That was around the time that Royal Agio decided to focus more on Premium Handmade cigars. Since then, several new lines and blends were introduced. From the Balmoral Añejo 18 to the Balmoral Añejo XO. And the Añejo XO series is now available in several blends. The regular Balmoral Añejo XO, the Balmoral Añejo XO Oscuro, the Balmoral Añejo XO Connecticut, and the brand new Balmoral Añejo XO Nicaragua. The last one is only available in the United States for now.

And at the same time, a new brand from Agio emerged. Named after the town where the factory is located. San Pedro de Macoris. That budget brand immediately was picked up by the cigar community and has devoted fans around the globe. Four blends have been released for this brand so far. Those are the San Pedro de Macoris Brazil, San Pedro de Macoris Ecuador, San Pedro de Macoris Nicaragua, and the San Pedro de Macoris Sun Grown. Again, the last one is only available in the United States for now.

Big Smoke introduction

The cigar that Francisco Batista will be introducing on the Big Smoke is not a new blend. It’s not the Balmoral Dueto or the Paso Doble. Nor the Balmoral Añejo XO Nicaragua or a new San Pedro de Macoris. He will bring a new size of the Balmoral Añejo XO Connecticut. The Balmoral Añejo XO Connecticut MK52 is not available in The Netherlands yet but will be for sale after the Big Smoke. It’s a 6¼x52 Torpedo in the Balmoral Añejo XO Connecticut blend. So with a Connecticut Shade wrapper from the USA. The binder is Ecuadorian Sumatra. The filler comes from Pennsylvania, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic.
