ADV & McKay will be releasing a new chapter of the ADVentura story as well as giving its top retailers the first in a limited production line of cigars. The new story is Barbarroja’s Invasion and it’s the most aggressive story so far. ADV & McKay have been working two years on the new chapter.

The cigars, made at Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic, are made with a Mexican San Andres wrapper over Dominican binder and filler which includes Medio Tiempo tobacco, which has gotten a mythical status due to Habanos’s marketing around the Behike. The cigars will be available as a 6×44 Corona, 5×52 Robusto and a 6×54 Toro.

“Once you see and taste this blend and packaging, you’ll know why it took two years of pushing vendors and our palates outside of the box to create something that rivals the insane popularity of King’s Gold and Queen’s Pearls,” Marcel Knobel says in a press release.

The concept around the ADVentura brand is that it’s centred around the adventures of ADVentura and McKay who roamed the seas in the same era as the pirates of the Caribbean. The stories are available on the company’s website.

Next to the Babbarroja’s Invasion there will be a limited edition called La Llorona. It will only be available to ADVentura’s elite accounts and will debut in a 5×52 Robusto size. “As a boutique brand, we have to come up with a ways to compete for retail space,” Knobel told Cigar Inspector “With deep discounting and ample free goods out of the picture, we wanted to go one step further to show our appreciation to those that not just believe in what we do, but love the result of it.” Knobel said that there will be 14 stores designated as elite accounts when the line launches.

This cigar will be released at the PCA Convention & Trade Show in a private tasting. There will be a second vitola sometime in the future. And again, the name fits with the story as La Llorona is a widow who’s hunting pirates to avenge her husband’s death. La Llorona will be exclusively available in the United States while Barbarroja’s Invasion will also come to Europe.
