A new Liga Privada limited edition. This time exclusively for the Chinese market. It’s the second time this month that the American Liga Privada fans have to be resourceful to get their hands on an exclusive Liga Privada. Earlier this month the Liga Privada Bauhaus came on the market. That cigar is exclusively available in Europe. And since yesterday the Liga Privada Year of the Ox is available in China.

The new Liga Privada Year of the Ox is easier to find though as the famous internet retailer from Hong Kong, Cigars of Habanos, is selling them online. And they ship internationally, including the United States.

Year of the Ox

This is not the first time that Drew Estate is releasing a cigar for the Chinese zodiac calendar. Nor are they the only cigar company that is doing so. It started with Davidoff but nowadays even the Cubans create a cigar for Chinese New Year. And so does Plasencia, Drew Estate, Flor de Selva, Great Wall, and VegaFina. There are probably more, as in previous years there were Brick House and Brun del Re cigars for Chinese New Year as well.

The Liga Privada Year of the Ox is a 6½x54 Toro. The cigars are wrapped in gold foil with a purple foot band. That purple band has a drawing of an ox. Each box contains 8 cigars, as that is a lucky number in China. The blend is a twist on the regular production of Liga Privada cigars. It has a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a Brazilian Mata Fina binder. The filler comes from Honduras and Nicaragua. That’s the same recipe as the normal production, but with some differences in the variety of tobacco and the composition of the filler.
