SpecialsA New Festival to Keep a Close Eye On
Author: Billie
The most famous cigar festival in the world is the Habanos Festival in Cuba. The second best known is most likely the Dominican Procigar Festival, usually hosted around the same time of the year as the Habanos festival. The Cuban Partagas Festival and the Nicaraguan Puro Sabor festival are well known too, but now there is a new festival to keep a close eye on. The Dominican Cigar Fest from the Asociación Dominicana de Cigarros y Tabaco (ADOCITAB)—the Dominican Association of Cigars and Tobacco.
The event will take place in June in Tamboril, where most of the Dominican cigar factories are operating from. More than 40 companies are involved with ADOCITAB, which is 4 times more than Procigar. The Dominican Cigar Fest is a trade show plus cultural events and performances. The event starts on Friday June 3rd and ends on the 5th.
During the day, there are tours of cigar factories, cigar rolling demonstrations, cultural tours, helicopter tours and classes. A ticket is $1100 and includes a bottle of rum, two cigar boxes, lighter, cutter, a hat, lunch, dinner and access to the event areas. There are also packages with hotel rooms that start at $1900.
Three factories have already confirmed that the doors are open for tours. These three are Tabacalera Victor Sinclair, Tabacalera William Ventura, and Tabacalera El Artista with most likely more factories added to the options later.
