Author: Inspector Z
11th Habanos Day in Russia. Last Friday, Top Cigars, the official Habanos distributor in Russia hosted the 11th Habanos Day in the country. And this time it took place in Ekaterinburg in the Ural federal district. And a party it was, with new introductions of Cuban cigars, the reveal of the second Art Nouveau jar, and an auction. Plus an award show. The only award winner we know is the award for Best Habanos Specialist 2021. That prize went to Salon Vkus Zhizni (Sabora de la Vida).
New IntroductionsÂ
The more than 275 guests saw the introduction of the Acuerdo Exclusivo Russia and the reintroduction of the Quai d’Orsay Claro Claro. The Russian regional edition is part of the 2020 Regional Edition program and will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.. There are 6000 boxes of ten cigars, all with a unique number. Not a lot of information is available about this cigar. It is not even mentioned on the most comprehensive database online, the Cuban Cigar Website. It is a 5×52 Petit Belicoso.
Another new introduction for Russia is the Ramon Allones Allones #2. This is a Limited Edition from 2019, but it was not available in Russia before. The 5 ½ x52 pyramid was only released in late 2020, even though it’s part of the 2019 program.
And of course, there was the introduction of the second Art Nouveau jar with the Ramon Allones Hermitage. A full article on that release will be published tomorrow.
Auction
What is a Habanos day without an auction? Top Cigars Corporation, the exclusive distributor of Habanos in Russia. Provided the auctioneers with some high-value items to auction off.Â
The first item was the #1 Jar of the Art Nouveau series. That item, one of 80 jars made, brought in 300.000 Russian Roubles (3384 Euro or 4117 USD). The second item was a box of Quai d’Orsay Claro Claro for 100.000 Rouble (1128 Euro or 1372 USD). The third item was a box of Partagas Grand Reserva. This vintage box from 2007 brought in 330.000 Rouble, 3722 Euro, 4529 USD.Â
There final two items in the auction were from Cuba’s flagship brand Cohiba. A box of Cohiba Robusto Reserva Coseche 2014. This box brought 400.000 Rouble which is the same as 4512 Euro or 5490 UDS. But the finale of the auction was the Cohiba Majestousos 1966 humidor. This item went for an amazing 1.500.000 rouble (€16.920 or 20,586 USD) to a bidder from Germany.
We could not have written this story about the 11th Habanos Day in Russia without the input and the photos of Ali Albetkov from Cigar Cult.
