La Casa del Tabaco Cigar Review

    Origin : Honduras
Format : Robusto Extra / Cañonazo
    Size : 52 x 150 mm (5.9 in)
Blend : 50% Aged Cuban Tobacco / 50% Nicaraguan Tobacco
    Hand-Made
    Price : 14 EUR each

It is not a secret that Frederic and crew at LCDH have a superior “nose” for quality tobacco with the cigars they seek and sell and this issue fits in seamlessly with their product offering. The flavor of a Cuban delivered in a mild aromatic package of a Nicaraguan makes this blend a nice addition to any humidor and a truly enjoyable ready-to-consume cigar as-is. LCDH kicked off the marketing of this product issuing a single cigar with orders placed and shipped in October, as well as a free cigar giveaway contest on this site. They shouldn’t have to give many away, as this cigar sells itself with the flavor notes offered and its quite reasonable pricing.

DISCLAIMER: I was “gifted” a copy of this cigar with a recent order, but have subsequently purchased 2 boxes for my own use.

    Appearance : [rating:3.25/5] (3.25)
Rolled in the classic Cuban style, this cigar reminded me a lot of a Montecristo in appearance. A deep dark brown wrapper encasing equally dark filler and binder makes the stick look quite cosmetically appealing. Wrapper was NOT oily and there were few spines present with the sample I consumed.

    Construction : [rating:2.75/5] (2.75)
This product had a few construction issues. Burn was inconsistent throughout, which was a small distraction. Wrapper did tend to separate when the burn got really uneven. Lighting was easy with only a slightly restricted draw. The draw did little in improvement throughout the smoke.

    Flavor : [rating:4/5]
The taste of this smoke is where the true quality of this house blend shines the brightest. From creamy buttery notes upon lighting, to mild spice and wood notes in the remainder of the smoke really made this cigar a NICE… NICE… NICE… experience. You can easily overlook personal preferences where appearance and construction is concerned, because this cigar delivers the earthy kick of a typical Cuban while combining the finesse of a quality Nicaraguan. Frederic and crew really got it right with this one.

    Value : [rating:4/5]
With a cost of $15US+ each, you get an upper tier quality cigar at a more down to Earth price. This cigar is a great value that gives you the taste of refinement without paying through the nose for the pleasure.

    Overall Rating : [rating:3.5/5]
Smoking, then subsequently purchasing this cigar was for me a gamble that paid off, and paid off well. I would be more than happy to purchase this one again and again, and will actually put a few back to age for a bit and see if time delivers even more pleasant surprises.

    Enjoy!!!
