    Zino Classic No. 8

    Origin : HondurasZino
    Format : Churchill
    Size : 175 x 19 mm
    Ring : 48
    Wrapper : Ecuador
    Filler : Honduras
    Binder : Honduras
    Hand-Made
    Price : ~$10 each

Unlike the Zino Platinum series, the Classic blend is more than smokeable. Of course, I will not put it on my list of favorite sticks, but the Zino Classic No. 8 deserves at least one try and who knows, you may actually like it in case you’re into milder, gentle cigars.

    Appearance : [rating:5/5]
The black tube looks gorgeous and the stick itself is very attractive too, with its smooth claro wrapper.

    Construction : [rating:5/5]
I found these to be very skillfully rolled, all 3 that I smoked for this review had perfect burn & draw and produced impressive amounts of smoke.

    Flavor : [rating:3.5/5]
The flavors are mostly vegetal throughout the smoke. It starts off with a light aroma of straw, then develops elegant woody notes. At the halfway mark, a pleasant floral taste appears. At this point, the woody notes are simply getting stronger and stronger, however, without crossing the medium-bodied limit.

    Value : [rating:4/5]
    It’s a decent price for a well-constructed churchill.

    Overall Rating : [rating:4.5/5]
Far from powerful, the Zino Classic No. 8 is remarkably balanced and good-looking. Beginners will find it delicious.

My Review of the Zino Classic Torpedo

The Zino Classic Torpedo is a short little belicoso, the first new size since the Classic line was reblended by Henke Kelner a few years ago. I picked this up at Empire Cigars.

This is a nice looking light brown colored cigar with barely visible veins and is firm but with an appropriate amount of give. The wrapper is very thin and soft and silky to the touch.

This was a big surprise as this cigar was a disappointment first puff. I was hit with wave after wave of ammonia, which has a halting sour that makes you want to throw it down.

This is a real shame as I had liked the Classic Line as it was a consistent cigar that had a creamy toastiness and oakiness with a hint of coffee that was mild in strength but very flavorful.

This is not ready ammonia at all. The ammonia tang won’t leave your tongue and you just can’t get rid of the taste. I pitched it. This might be the first time Henke has let me down.
