It seems as if you would think Andre Farkas would run out of bomb themed cigars this year. But yet again, here comes another one, the “C-4.” At this point in the year, I have been pretty disappointed in a lot of the Viaje releases. Some felt as if they were released too young and some were just plain terrible. But Andre has a way of keeping his followers' eyes peeled for that diamond in the rough. Every once in awhile he hits a homerun and I was hoping to find it possibly in this cigar.

The C-4 was released back in mid-June along with some other annual Viaje summertime releases: the TNT and Summerfest. Only 3,750 total cigars were made. As much of you all know, Andre only specializes in small batch, hard to find cigars.

Recently, a press release about Cremo Cigars was brought upon the cigar world sending some aficionados abuzz. With that being said, you can click here to read that press release, which will allow me to really expand on what’s important, rather than providing you with facts that have already been spread around the cigar community. One fact that I will touch on, however, is that these smokes will not be available until after the first of the year. Allow me to make this very clear. I can’t wait.

Allow me to start out by thanking the President of Cremo Cigars, Mr. Walter Santiago. He seems quite passionate about the product he brings to the table, and I truly appreciate him providing me with the samples for this review. The two vitolas I received arrived in great condition, and came along with a nice box of cigar matches. Thanks again Walter. Now, on to shameless criticism.

The Padron SI-15 is the second cigar from a four part exclusive installment of cigars (“Microblend series”) from some of the game’s biggest players. The first cigar made for Smoke Inn in the four part exclusive series was the Tatuaje Anarchy, second - Padron 1964 SI-15 Natural/Maduro, third - My Father El Hijo, and the fourth - unreleased - is supposed to be by Arturo Fuente. This is the largest Padron cigar made to date, a whopping 6x60 monstrocity. With all of the tobacco aged for at least 4 years, I believe I could be in for a real treat.

Note: this will be my first Padron I have smoked in over 2 years.

Awhile back I wrote one of my most controversial reviews of the Davidoff Short Perfecto. It seems that many of the Davidoff lovers came out to bash my review, and I don’t blame them. I was so disappointed with the Short Perfecto that I only smoked one stick and did not want to revisit it. So I decided to give the Special Series a second chance this time and properly give it a fair shake. So I went out of my way to procure a few samples of my favorite vitola- the robusto. I had high hopes in Davidoff proving me wrong. So did they succeed in turning this Davidoff sceptic into a believer?

When I first started smoking fine cigars, this was one of the first cigars that I ever had. The beginning of my college career is right about the time this world opened up to me. There was a little cigar shop a couple miles from campus that I would go to occasionally. As I would walk around that shop, they carried the Robusto size of the Gurkha Black Dragon. One day I picked it up, and fell in love with fine cigars. So, in fact, this is the one cigar that opened up the cigar world for me. Now, five years later, I revisit this stick to see if it still has the same feel to it.

Fonseca is a discreet Cuban brand that only has four sizes in the current production. I haven't had a chance to try many of their offerings, I just remember being unimpressed with their smaller cigar, the KDT Cadetes that I bought a fiver of two years ago. Not enough body, not enough flavor, and I quickly lost interest in the brand. In 2010, the very first Fonseca regional edition was released, a corona extra for Benelux. The Fonseca No. 4, as this release is called, is what we have for review today.

La Palina was a cigar line originally manufactured by Congress Cigar Company way back in 1896. The line existed until 1926; when company founder Samuel Paley passed the company down to his son William, William took an interest in radio broadcasting and switched entirely away from cigars, creating the Columbia Broadcasting System. Congress Cigar Company ceased to exist. But now over a century after the founding of Congress Cigar Company, William’s son has decided to revive the original La Palina cigar line of his grandfather. Having had an opportunity to review the delightful La Palina Alison (Torpedo) earlier this year, I jumped on the chance to try the La Palina El Diario, a new blend. El Diario translates to “The Daily”, which is the intention behind this cigar — that this would be a great smoke for everyday. El Diario is available in five vitolas: Churchill (7x50), Torpedo (6.125x52), Gordo (6x58), Toro (6x50), and Robusto (5x52). Today I’ll be having a look at the gordo.
