    Appearance : [rating:4/6]
The Quinteros Favoritos, wears a perfectly oily and silky wrapper. Its colour is very attractive and pleasant. I really like the format. Very similar to a petit robusto, which blended well, delivers flavours rapidly and form a high density of smoke! Looking at the foot and feeling the cigar can give you a good indication of the construction. From the visual perspective it looks perfectly rolled.
The band is the classic Quinteros red one, available on the whole range.I do not fancy the band much and think it could be slightly nicer. The band gives an old and outdated impression.

    Flavor : [rating:3/6]

    1st part
As I lit the cigar, my impression of a perfectly Rolled cigar was confirmed. Straight away, a big density of smoke comes out. The start is quite punchy and spicy. I was not expected such a powerful start. This was very enjoyable but can surprise some people. I don’t mind strong cigars when the flavours are here. Luckily I had both during the start.
The draw is great, smooth and easy revealing the great cigar construction.
A surprising sweetness takes over the palate as the man flavour element. Not the typical Cuban cigar sweetness. A caramel candy type of sweet. Last time I experienced it was in the Trinidad Topes. Towards the end of the 1st part, the cigar becomes lighter to give a long medium finish on the palate.

    2nd Part
The flavours remain consistent from the end of the 1st part. The spiciness and strength from the beginning are completely gone. The Favoritos is getting lighter and the flavours are rounding up with a nice heat in the palate. There are nothing aggressive but there are not much complexity or excitement neither.
The sweetness is very present and give you a finish reminding of dried coconut.
The ash is beautiful, solid and light grey.

    3rd Part
As expected for a short filler cigar the development isn’t present. Therefore the enjoyable sweetness, with a hint of coconut and slight woodiness remain present and constant. The cigar doesn’t over heat event until the very end. The finish is very light.
Throughout the cigar, the construction was great. The burn was very consistant and even, allowing the smoke to correctly express itself.

    Overall Quality : [rating:3.9/6] (3.9)
When talking about value for money I believe the Quinteros Favoritos is almost unbeatable.
I enjoyed this cigar, Very easy to smoke, doesn’t require any smoking skills. The burn was perfect all the way and the flavours very easy to understand and appreciate. Of course nothing to do with a complex cigar that has important changes between the 3 parts. The Favoritos remains constant and linear throughout the smoke. It is is a great cigar for a first approach of Cubans, without spending much.

      Hi Arnold,

I had a laugh there because when i first quickly glanced over your post and saw “a repressive regime that exploits it’s workers while the powerful 1% lives in luxury”, I thought you were talking about the US of A.

Now on proper re-reading, I see you meant Cuba but the irony is that the wealthiest 1% of Americans now control more wealth than 90% of their countrymen. Cuba has its own well-documented tragic situation to deal with.

But that doesn’t stop me from supporting the fermented tobacco industry in both countries… and the livelihoods of the many Cubans and Americans working in those industries.

In any case enjoy your smokes…

Received a box of Quintero Favoritos from Cigars of Habanos today. 25 sticks. Took 16 days. Just completed my first smoke lasting 35 minutes.

      Draw EASY
Cigar lit very easily. Ash was true with a couple of touch ups along the way to ensure best smoking experience.

      Strength LIGHT-MILD
I found this puro to be between light and mild.

      Flavor
Consistent smoke throughout until the final third where i had to ash it because of an influx of ammonia which was not present until a few puffs into the final third.

      Authenticity
Strong chance these cigars are real Cubans. The most telling fact for me is sniffing the foot of the cogar after having smoked maybe a centimeter of the puro. The scent had that unique aroma only associated with Cuban tabacco.

      Value
At $3.72 USD per stick you’d be hard pressed to find a better value in the Cuban market.

      Age
Stamp said production was June 2016 so puros have been aged a year. I’d like to see where these are at in another 6 months.

      Rating
      3.2 of 5

I’d recommend having a box of these babies in the humidor.

Thanks, but no thanks. I choose not to support a repressive regime that exploits it’s workers while the powerful 1% lives in luxury. I’ll smoke cubans when freedom and opportunity return to that imprisoned island.

Hi Arnold, Sadly it is a reality one can’t deny. Luckily the industry of cigars allows people to have job and make a living out of its linked tourism.
