After having my first God of Fire several months back and finding it an absolutely heavenly experience actually worthy of the hype, I found myself quite excited to sample Keith Park’s newest line. While several reviews touched on the Angelenos cigar line, they seemed rather sparse and far between. Wondering if I had gotten my hands on a yet to be known gem or simply an unsought after stick, I set out to find out where Angelenos cigars stand.
The appearance of the cigar is very modern in its simplicity. A black background provides a base for a cursive “A” and border both of which are shiny silver. Overlaying the “A” is red type proclaiming the brand and year. This contrast the almost golden hue of the very well constructed wrapper beautifully. Images of dark bars in a bustling metropolis are conjured by its overall appearance.
Construction of the cigar seems sound as well. Firm to the touch, with very few flaws the cigar promises a positive experience. The smooth cut of the cap confirms this although the prelight draw is rather loose. Lighting the smoke goes quickly and produces a very sharp burn.
Initial notes of cedar and grass are present. Exhaling through the nose reveals little else although a slight tingling sensation does develop in the nose. Although shortly in, I am rather disappointed by how mild and generally bland the smoke is. The construction that seemed so well done prior to lighting does not hold up to the flame. Less than an inch into the cigar and the loose, flaky ash managed to drop itself right in my lap.
As it progresses, the flavors do not change much. Of the changes that do occur, they are not for the better. When the cigar is not producing mild notes of hay it picks up a more bitter attitude. At about the halfway point this actually reached what I would call a biting lime sensation. Purging helped somewhat but did not alleviate the bite or bring any more character.
Hoping that the first one I had was just off, I did try a second and was met with similar results. The ash held a little better on the second one but other than that the journey was basically the same. Compared to its God of Fire predecessor, the flavor of this smoke stays firmly grounded in the boringly mild category and is quite a letdown especially with a price point of over $10.00.

My Review of the Angelenos Lonsdale
This cigar is a little different than I expect, for whatever reason I expected more strength from this cigar.
It’s pretty mild, smooth but a little lacking. I get wood and a little cream and not much else.
As I smoke this cigar, I’m not disgusted by any means, just not impressed.
Towards the end, I get just a taste of coffee and licorice, but it’s fleeting at best and the finish is very short.
There is very little complexity and depth. It’s just a good mild cigar, and that’s about it.

That’s a shame that it didn’t treat you well. The God of Fire line is easily one of the best out there. I appreciate your honest opinion though. Nice to see that out here. Great review. Oh, what is the make up of the cigar? What kind of wrapper in particular does it use?

awesome, always appreciate a blogger who can tell it like it is! There are too many “nice” reviewers out there who are too afraid of losing their gifted smokes if they give a brutal review. Keep up the honest work as it truly appeals to the consumer! Afterall, that is what the blogosphere is about – personal opinions!
