Although less pleasant than the Serie V (IMO), I enjoyed the Oliva Serie O Toro, an attractive Nicaraguan puro. Beautifully constructed and with decent flavors, this stick is yet another excellent creation by Oliva Cigars.

Appearance : ★★★★½
With its sun-grown habano wrapper, this is definitely a beautiful stick. It is regularly packed, smooth and pleasant to the touch. There are a few tiny water discolorations on the wrapper.

Oliva Serie O Toro

Construction : ★★★★★
On this particular stick, I don't remember having any draw or burn problems. It burned regularly and the ash held for at least 1 1/2 ''.

Oliva Serie O Toro

Flavor : ★★★★☆
The Serie O Toro starts with flavors of light coffee and spice. In the second third, the bouquet gets much richer with delicious cedary notes and hints of caramel. The finish is not as good with strong leather flavors and a lot of pepper.

Oliva Serie O Toro

Value : ★★★★☆
Most sticks from Oliva provide a very good price/quality ratio. The Serie O Toro is not an exception.

Overall Rating : ★★★★½
I'm in love with the brand and will try to get other cigars from their range, especially the Serie G and the Master Blend.

  1. The SunGrown O is one of my favorites of the Oliva line.

  2. I love the Oliva cigars as well. My favorites are the Serie V lancero, Serie G churchill, and Special S diadema.

  3. Saint Jimbob says:

The Serie O maduro is an anchor in my humidor, and I rarely leave my local shop without a pair of them in hand. Great blend, great rolling, and a phenomenal price.

  4. i have tried the V, there is a G and a classic in my humi. The V was awesome and the other two smell amazing. I am looking forward to them once the weather improves.

  5. Tim Walden says:

Love the Serie G. My new favorite.

  6. Another winner from Oliva!

  7. Like Cigar Jack, I like the SunGrown O the best of this line!

  8. I really enjoyed the serie O. I particularly liked the coffee flavor it has at the start.Zero burn problems.I bought a single to try it.That single turned into a box.Im a sucker for oliva cigars though.

  9. John Werner says:

I really find your review to be spot-on. I think the finish is truly very cedar like and there is definitely an earthy component, for lack of any better definition, is kind of leathery as it isn’t vegetative or musty.

I like Oliva sticks quite a bit and while this flavor profile isn’t what I’d consider their finest it is unique and good if not great.

  10. Can you please explain to a beginner how a cigar can have a habano wrapper and still be a nicaragua puro ?

  11. A distributor finally brought this brand to Cambodia. Choices are limited to the Toro. Was expecting this to be similar to Padron but was surprise to find it is smoother and suitable to my palate. i nubbed it until it’s too hot to hold. But at US$9/-, it’s not a value buy. Would have bought more of these if the price were $2 – $3 cheaper.
