Although less pleasant than the Serie V (IMO), I enjoyed the Oliva Serie O Toro, an attractive Nicaraguan puro. Beautifully constructed and with decent flavors, this stick is yet another excellent creation by Oliva Cigars.

    Appearance : [rating:4.5/5]
With its sun-grown habano wrapper, this is definitely a beautiful stick. It is regularly packed, smooth and pleasant to the touch. There are a few tiny water discolorations on the wrapper.

On this particular stick, I don’t remember having any draw or burn problems. It burned regularly and the ash held for at least 1 1/2 ”.

    Flavor : [rating:4/5]
The Serie O Toro starts with flavors of light coffee and spice. In the second third, the bouquet gets much richer with delicious cedary notes and hints of caramel. The finish is not as good with strong leather flavors and a lot of pepper.

    Value : [rating:4/5]
Most sticks from Oliva provide a very good price/quality ratio. The Serie O Toro is not an exception.

I’m in love with the brand and will try to get other cigars from their range, especially the Serie G and the Master Blend.

Just a stunningly good cigar!! The Serie O,in my humble opinion,is the milder, creamier and sweeter cousin of The Serie V…with my absolute favourite in that line being the double robusto. In fact, for my palate at least, there’s plenty of sweetness in the V but even more so here with the spice toned down a notch and the finish not quite as long. There’s chocolate, caramel and a gorgeous sweet cedar in abundance. To my mind it’s this beautiful sun grown habano wrapper that makes all the difference on these cigars.I’d be interested to see how the extra filler of the double toro changes the profile,if at all. I’ve said before but I’ll say it again,I can’t speak highly enough of Oliva in general and the price to quality ratio is utterly insane! They’re 90+ point cigars every time for my tastes and priced well enough to be an everyday smoke, what’s not to like?! Wonderful!!

A distributor finally brought this brand to Cambodia. Choices are limited to the Toro. Was expecting this to be similar to Padron but was surprise to find it is smoother and suitable to my palate. i nubbed it until it’s too hot to hold. But at US$9/-, it’s not a value buy. Would have bought more of these if the price were $2 – $3 cheaper.

Can you please explain to a beginner how a cigar can have a habano wrapper and still be a nicaragua puro ?

I really find your review to be spot-on. I think the finish is truly very cedar like and there is definitely an earthy component, for lack of any better definition, is kind of leathery as it isn’t vegetative or musty.

I like Oliva sticks quite a bit and while this flavor profile isn’t what I’d consider their finest it is unique and good if not great.

i have tried the V, there is a G and a classic in my humi. The V was awesome and the other two smell amazing. I am looking forward to them once the weather improves.

The Serie O maduro is an anchor in my humidor, and I rarely leave my local shop without a pair of them in hand. Great blend, great rolling, and a phenomenal price.

I love the Oliva cigars as well. My favorites are the Serie V lancero, Serie G churchill, and Special S diadema.
