Being a major fan of the Robusto format, I knew from first sight at the tobacco shop that I would be picking up one of the Gurkha Regent Robusto cigars. After trying it, I'm glad I did, though I kind of got mixed feelings on this smoke.

Appearance : ★★★★★
A prettier smoke you could not ask for. As usual, Gurkha has upheld the usual level of excellence in craftsmanship. Lovely color and the wrapping was flawless. Heck, even the box it came out of was lovely!

Construction : ★★★★☆
Though you won't hear this complaint too often, the draw was actually a little loose. The first hit was almost too much, though toning down my personal draw seemed to fix the problem.

Flavor : ★★★★☆
The first taste was far too strong, but it was all because of the fact that I expected a tighter draw and hit it far too hard. Other than that, the first third was an intricate and careful blend of cognac and earth tones. Very nice. The second third brought no new surprises, though I believe I detected just a hint of cedar in there. The final third was all zing and excitement. Good sting to it with a robust cognac coffee mixed tinge.

Value : ★★★★★
Definitely worth while, particularly at such an affordable price!

Overall Rating : ★★★★½
This may have been the most intricate and complex mix of flavors that I have ever experienced in a cigar. Other than the ones mentioned above, there were a couple of other familiar flavors that I could not quite identify. Very pleasant though. Just remember to not hit it too hard on the light up. Play around with it. Overall, an excellent smoke indeed.
