Montecristo Petit No.2 single

Montecristo’s exquisite blend of tobaccos has been exclusively produced using selected leaves from Vuelta Abajo zone, (D.O.P) Pinar del Río, Cuba, land of the best tobacco in the world. The original blend of the Línea Clásica, with a medium to full flavour offers a distinguished aroma that continues to captivate both experienced smokers and novices alike.

Montecristo‘s classic range initially only comprised vitolas numbered from 1 to 5, gradually expanding to cater for the varied tastes of Habano lovers.

This is the first addition in the Línea Clásica in many years. Montecristo Petit No.2 (ring gauge 52 x 120 mm in length) is a figurado -tapered at one end- shape in keeping with the brand’s tradition, the classical Montecristo No. 2 being considered one of the references for the figurado category.

  1. Can’t wait. The regular 2s at $250 a box. I wonder how much the shorties will cost (under 5 inches). I like that they don’t mess with the packaging.

I do not understand the tendence of many cuban brands in the last years to produce cigars larger and shorter respect the traditional vitolas. So you can see short piramides, larger robustos and other vitolas with a ring gauge too big respect lenght (personal opinion). Maybe the busy way of life of this period don’t permit to cigar smokers to spend a good timing for smoking. Infact traditional vitolas like dalias or cervantes (lonsdales) for an example are not appreciate like in the past. I think that a large short cigar don’t give the same pleasure of a more equilibrate one. The smoke is too much in a short time, too warm and these cigars can not have complexity of taste, flavour and strenght that have traditional sizes. A cigar of 12-14 cm should not have a ring gauge larger than 48-50 and if you think that churchills have a ring gauge of 47 for 7 inches of lenght and a rich often complete variabilty of organolectic characters you could understand my opinion. An expert smoker would have, I think, more than 20 minutes of full smoke or for a short smoking choice a little cigar that often give in smaller scale the same sensations of a bigger one. Try to smoke an Esplendidos or a Lusitania and a Cohiba Siglo I or a Partagas Short and verify my thougt.
