Famous Smoke Shop recently announced that Crowned Heads would be producing a special line of cigars exclusively for their shops. Called the Four Kicks Black Belt Buckle, the new cigar is an amped-up version of the original Four Kicks. Where the old Four Kicks used a Habano Ecuador wrapper, this one comes with a Connecticut Broadleaf.

In case you’re curious about the name, it comes from a song by the Kings of Leon. The lyrics go like this:

Huff men don’t take no nonsense
    He’s here to rectify
He’s got his black belt buckle
And the red man’s fire in his eyes.

This cigar is brand new—it’s been available to order since December 3. I’ve finally had a chance to give it a try.

    Appearance : [rating:5/5]
This cigar has a medium-brown wrapper which is almost reddish in color. It’s toothy and kind of rustic in how it looks and feels, but it’s a very good-looking stogie. There are two bands on the cigar. The first is the red and gold “Four Kicks” seal. The second below it lists the “Black Belt Buckle” portion of the name. Both form a nice contrast with the reddish brown wrapper leaf.

    Construction : [rating:4.75/5] (4.75)
This cigar features great construction. The draw was just right, not too tight and not too loose. The burn line was fairly even and only required a few minor adjustments. I was especially impressed with the firm ash, which really hung on!

    Flavor : [rating:4/5]
As far as flavors go, the cigar starts out with flavors of earth and wood. The wood has a kind of burnt, smoky flavor to it which I find very enjoyable. As the smoke progresses, I pick out notes of coffee. There is also a subtle sweetness blended in. It never picks up too much pace and it’s never cloying. It’s always just there in the backdrop balancing things out and rounding out the flavor profile. I took a point off because there wasn’t a lot of variation. But I did enjoy the blend very much, especially that charred wood note.

    Value : [rating:4.5/5]
The Four Kicks Black Belt Buckle Corona Gorda retails for around $7-8 a stick. That is a very reasonable price and nothing to complain about, especially for a limited edition smoke.

    Overall Rating : [rating:4.5/5]
I can easily give the Four Kicks Black Belt Buckle a very high recommendation. If you enjoyed the original Four Kicks, this one delivers an extra kick. It’s definitely very much in the full-bodied area, not a good cigar to start your day, but a perfect one to end it with. Order a box quickly if you want to give these a try. Only 1,000 boxes are being produced, so these are just going to fly off the shelves!
