Another one of old Castro’s favorites, the Cohiba Lanceros is a cigar rich in history, not to mention flavor!

    Appearance : [rating:4.5/5]
Long and thin, a very original cigar in appearance.

    Construction : [rating:4.5/5]
Seeing this cigar brings on two interesting view points. One is that they are very knobby, with a lumpiness to them. The interesting part is that though one might think that this is a bad aspect, further inspection shows that these cigars have very excellent little hand rolled construction. I must say that, when closely viewed, it appears if great care were taken in the building of this beauty.

    Flavor : [rating:5/5]
Early into this cigar I was thrilled to find a smooth, grassy sensation, with no harshness at all. 2/3 of the way in, still no overwhelming sensation. Smooth and lovely as could be. The finale was outstanding. This is one of the very few cigars that seemed to maintain an equal consistancy from beginning to end. It’s a pity Castro kept this one to himself as long as he did. A creamy smoke, this is one of those very few early in the morning with nothing on your pallet cigars, good with a latte, perhaps.

    Value : [rating:4.5/5]
These are really some pricey cigars, but wow, are they truly worth it. I strongly suggest these for special occasions only, such as the day of your daughters wedding, right after you get up. Sit back and smoke these and just remember when she was a little girl. It’s a great “once in a lifetime event” smoke.

There are only a select few cigars that I am this pleased with. I haven’t aged any yet, but you can bet that there are a couple in my Humidor.

I received morethan ten years ago a box of 25 Cohiba Lanceros of 1994 very dry but well conserved I restored the box in my humidor for two years and the the cigars were perfect to smoke the only problem is that I don’t like Cohiba cigars old and new. The lanceros are poor of taste like the Robustos E.L. and the Pyramides E.L. of 2000 ediction perfect in conservation by the beginning.

I have the opportunity to buy 5 of these cigars from 2001 but I have been very reluctant with panatelas since sometimes draw is difficult or impossible…
Any construction issues for those who are used to smoke this vitola ?

I stock up on them whenever I can find them, these are classics primed for aging, Lanceros are in my top 2, and I’m still looking for number 2. If you can find them, buy them!

I have been wanting to get my hands on one for a while, and finally I did 2 weeks ago in Cuba. It is not the format I smoke normally, but I am happy I tried it. It was a wonderful after lunch smoke on the beach, creamy and very very very smooth. A little expensive but worth it, as seems to be case with all Cohibas. Indeed, if I was Castro I would have kept it for myself too, 🙂

I have been interested in lanceros for a while now. Is this a light to medium cigar? I see a description of grassy tobacco flavors but I don’t know what flavors beyond that there are to be expected.

I’m really into lanceros and panatelas right now… maybe it’s the rebel in me, fighting against the mammoth fire-hose gauged cigars that are so prevalent now. I’m gonna keep an eye out for these!

At 20 dollars a stick… woo. They better be good. I’m gonna pick some of these up and try them. You have me interested 🙂
