Handmade since 2002, the Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs is another decent Cuban cheapie. Satisfying aesthetically-wise, these cigars provide a consistent construction (at least in boxes from 2007 and 2008). Upon lighting, one can find typical R&J flavors, which are floral and cedary. The smoke is medium-bodied and never aggressive. At $4 per stick, that's a good buy.

Thumbs Up!

In this age of short stubby stogies, the Romeo y Julieta Churchill is a very impressive cigar. It also comes with a lot of background, having been the preferred cigar of Sir Winston Churchill. Bringing this cigar to your mouth one gets a sense of history, brought out by its classical length. I paired this cigar with filtered water, Gotan Project's 'Lunatico' and Peter Gabriel's 'Last Temptation'.

Romeo y Julieta is a brand that never managed to impress me. Along with Cohiba, it is often mentioned by people who never smoke when they are asked about cigars. Cohiba, despite its higher price, deserves the recognition it has. Romeo y Julieta, on the other hand, is IMO a middling Cuban brand as even the Short Churchills which received a lot of praise didn't do it for me. This review is for the Cedros de Luxe #3, a petit corona that is, as I just said, quite an average cigar.

Romeo y Julieta Escudos are only available in the 2007 limited edition. In Spanish, escudo means shield or arms and there is not much information about this cigar. We only know that the tobacco leaves for the wrapper, binder and filler have been aged for at least 2 years. The factory name, gordito, is simply a longer robusto.

I am having some tough luck with petit coronas recently. First, the disappointing RASCC and now the pale and hardly memorable Romeo y Julieta No. 2. Not to mention that one of the cigars was moldy. I guess it's time to get back to my beloved robustos...

In my neverending quest to find the best robusto ever, I have decided to give Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills a try. Recently appeared on the market, I've heard rumors that this cigar was exceptionally interesting. However, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

This is an interesting Romeo y Julieta, with its leathery/spicy taste. It was equal in its pros and cons, starting out pleasant, but becoming harsh near the ring.

This is a classic Romeo y Julieta, with its brand sweet/spicy flavor. Furthermore, this stogie is reasonably priced, unlike some other RyJ models. A fine smoke overall, especially when it's properly aged (mine was!) :)
