Cigar of the Week: Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 50-year

Released in late 2009, the Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 50 Year Anniversary sports a Brazilian Arapiraca Sun Grown wrapper and is filled with Nicaraguan tobacco. Beautifully constructed, although the draw might be a bit firm at times, these sticks will appeal to aficionados enjoying peppery, earthy flavors with a hint of dark chocolate.

Cigar of the Week: Padilla Dominus

Padilla Dominus is a Nicaraguan blend born from the collaboration of Ernesto Padilla and Arsenio Ramos, the master blender at the Raices Cubanos factory. Considered by many as the most full-bodied Padilla’s blend, it offers deep and complex flavors of pepper, expensive wood and cinnamon (among others).

Padilla Dominus

  • Robustojoe considers the Padilla Dominus as one of Joe’s Gems and is fond of this smoke.
  • Adam at Fire Up That Cigar also enjoyed his Dominus although he’d prefer the Padilla 1932.
  • Travis at The Perfect Draw gives it a 93 rating and notes a pleasant sweetness in the flavor department.

Cigar of the Week: La Gloria Cubana Serie N

I found General Cigar to be really good at organizing the launch of this blend. Virtual tasting, presence on Twitter and Facebook, a series of reviews by prominent bloggers – La Gloria Cubana Serie N was bound to be talked about. This medium-bodied alternative to the Serie R, sporting an Ecuadorian wrapper and packed with Nicaraguan tobacco, might become a success considering its price point and construction qualities.

Cigar of the Week: Avo Heritage

Avo Heritage is one of the newest releases from Avo Cigars, introduced at the 2010 IPCPR. Wrapped in an Ecuadorian wrapper, it uses a Dominican blend with an addition of Peruvian tobacco. The title of the post is “cigar of the week”, but we might as well call it “cigar of the year” 2010, since, according to Brian Hewitt’s research (great job Brian!), Avo Heritage tops the composite cigar bloggers’ top ten lists.

Cigar of the Week: Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic

Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic (also known as ‘black label’) is one of the most available and affordable lines from the famous cigar blender. It is no wonder that this Nicaraguan puro made it to our gifting guide and received very nice press across the cigar blogosphere.

Cigar of the Week: Cusano 59′ Rare Cameroon

This cigar, named after the Cusano’s co-founder’s year of birth, sports a Cameroon wrapper which hides Dominican tobacco. With a relatively complex flavor profile, the 59′ Rare Cameroon is known as a good value for money smoke.
