Pre-Smoke

Scent of Wrapper : No distinct smell.
Scent at Foot : Grassy.
Appearance : The smoke looked very good. Well wrapped.
Wrapper : Nice Medium-brown coloring.
Feel : Very firm.

Ratings

Flavor : 85 - While the flavor of the first two thirds were enjoyable, they didn't stand out. It wasn't until I hit the subtle Currant flavor at the end that I was really wowed by it.
Construction : 98 - The construction (as you will see) was top notch. I have never had an ash remain like this one did. The only thing that kept it from being a perfect 100 was some cracking to the wrapper in the last 1 1/2".
Price : 90 - While I didn't pay for this smoke, at $4.00 ($100 for 25), this was a great smoke.

Were you aware of the fact that 100% Panamiam puros existed on the market? I was not, that's for sure. Well, after the first French puro, here is another country to add to the list.
Joyas de Panama cigars are constructed of a long filler with Sumatran wrapper. Five vitolas are currently offered: Churchill (178 x 18 mm), Especial #1 (165 x 16 mm - lonsdale), Torpedo (165 x 19 mm), Robusto (130 x 19 mm) and Coronita (130 x 16 mm - corona). The tobacco is grown in the Chiriqui province, a region with rich volcanic soil. Miriam Padilla (who has been making cigars for 26 years) and her sons run a factory in the small town of La Pintada. I had a chance to try all the sizes and they present common characteristics, this review is a compilation of my notes about different vitolas.
