Unlike the Zino Platinum series, the Classic blend is more than smokeable. Of course, I will not put it on my list of favorite sticks, but the Zino Classic No. 8 deserves at least one try and who knows, you may actually like it in case you’re into milder, gentle cigars.

One of the most complex and flavorful cigars out there, the Montecristo No. 2 definitely has reputation beyond repute. I must say that it deserves this reputation, because this is a truly wonderful cigar when properly aged and if there are no construction issues.

Why is this cigar called Edmundo? It is named after Edmundo Dantes, hero of Alexandro Dumas’ famous novel “The Count of Montecristo”. It has this classic, bitter-sweet, tangy flavour that has made Montecristo the world’s most popular Havana cigar brand.

First things first. I’d like to thank Cigar Inspector and Tex Cigars for this fine smoke. I won a contest and this was included in the package. As a meager thank you, I’ve decided to do a review on each cigar I received. Now let’s cut to the chase. The envelope please. Drum roll please. And the winner is: Padron Serie 1926 #6 Natural. The 1926 line premiered in 2002 commemorating the birth year of Jose O. Padron. All tobaccos used in the cigar have been aged five years. Production is limited to 100,000 cigars a year.

It’s quite hard to judge the Zino Platinum Crown Series Chubby Especial. I wonder whether it was designed for us cigar aficionados who have at least some experience with cigar smoking or for millionaires who can spend over 25 bucks on an average-quality stick and not regret it.

When I want to treat myself, I reach for a Montecristo Petit Edmundo. Masculine, powerful and complex, this is one my favorite Cubans. In response to Karen’s review of Partagas SdC No. 2, I can say that it feels so much better to hold and smoke this fat 52-ring gauge monster, even if the flavor richness is probably on the same level.
