I had been talking to my wife about wanting to try the Illusione Cigars. I hinted to my wife that if she were at all downtown with time to kill, while Christmas shopping she should stop by the cigar shop for me and see if they had anything “Illusione”. When my wife came back she said she had bought me something. She caught my curiosity. She said she went by the cigar shop to see if they had Illusione Cigars. She said that they had not received an order of them yet. She asked if they had anything similar. The sales person suggested something a little more luxurious; a European import of a Nicaraguan Robusto cigar called the Dornier DO-X (after the sea plane). It looks very classy. She said this is equivalent to an Illusione ~88~. My wife brought it home to me. She compelled me to smoke it right away. Which I did.

    Appearance : [rating:4.5/5]
The wrapper is light brown to almost green. It is the average sized Robusto. 50 ring and length of 4.8 inches.

    Construction : [rating:4.5/5]
The Dornier DO-X is a work of craftsmanship. It burned evenly and kept its ash for 2/3rd of the cigar. The wrapper is Criollo from the Jalapa Valley, as well as the binder. The filler is Havanna 2000 Ligero-viso-seco from the Jalapa Valley.

    Flavor : [rating:5/5]
It was smooth as silk. Many Robustos I have smoked leave a strong nicotine taste in my mouth, not with this cigar. The draw was even and produced just the right amount of smoke. This cigar is not at all flavored but its complexity revealed hints of coffee bean and aged oak. I had a small glass of port with it, which complemented it perfectly. I still haven’t tried the Illusione Cigar, but I can say that it if it even comes anywhere close to the Dornier it will be one of the best I ever smoked. The Dornier DO-X is the best Robusto cigar I have smoked.

    Value : [rating:3.5/5]
Only after smoking the Dornier DO-X did my wife reveal what she had paid for the single cigar. She paid 13.99 which isn’t bad considering a box of 25 goes for 350.00. Since then she has bought me two more.

The overall experience was wonderful. I smoked a cigar with superb complexity and beautiful construction. I also discovered what I already knew, that my wife loves me very much.

Wow! I’ve tried looking these things up and this is the only site with any mention of these. They sound wonderful, but for $14 I would probably not chance it.
