Jeff Aronson & Joe Chiusano, formerly of Cusano Cigars, sent these sticks over to me to have them reviewed. Until then, I had never heard of this brand, and then I started to see them pop up in my local B&M’s. Now that I have had a chance to smoke the samples Jeff sent, I have returned to smoke this cigar several times because it is an excellent value cigar with a tasty profile.

    Appearance : [rating:3.5/5]
The C&C Maduro is a milk chocolate brown cigar with flecks of black across its surface and an overall orange hue mixed in. There is a tiny bit of tooth to the wrapper which also looks slightly hairy when looked at it very closely. The black, silver, and cream brand is super neat and modern and really pops out. It really reminds me of how much I love the Viaje Exclusivo bands.

    Construction : [rating:4.5/5]
The Maduro is topped with a nice smoothed out double cap. The length of the cigar is cylindrical, tightly packed, and has hardly any give when squeezed anywhere.

The dry draw is very open, and after being lit, allows a ton of smoke that is very overwhelming. Thankfully the draw tightens a bit the farther down you smoke it.

The burn line throughout the smoke is very straight and self corrects itself whenever straying. The long light grey ash holds on for quite awhile and breaks off in 1-2 inch chunks.

    Flavor : [rating:3.5/5]
Starting off with the C&C Maduro is a slight bitter charred flavor that disappears quickly and reveals some sweet hay and musky notes. The finish is very clean and reminds me of the finish I get with aged Dominican tobacco, which is of mineral water.

The second third gets away from the initial flavors and reveals more nutty nuances. The nuttiness is close to like peanuts than anything else, but has a sweet vanilla aftertaste,…nice!

The last third was a tiny roller coaster ride. When I thought that this cigar was dying out (in flavor) and started to taste a little cardboard-ish the cigar would come back and hit me with a strong nutty note followed by sweet hay. This would happen several times over the last third.

    Value : [rating:5/5]
The cigar delivers a great value and is a joy to smoke at only $4. There are many worse smokes for that kind of coin!

    Overall Rating : [rating:3.75/5] (3.75)
When Jeff sent these over, I immediately had the feeling that I was going to enjoy the Corojo line better. This was not the case among the C&C’s. The Maduro is by far and away a better cigar and holds the nice flavors you get in the first third throughout most of the stick. But what you get in the first third is pretty much what you can expect throughout the smoking experience. The complexity is about non existent but it is enjoyable in its own right. My opinion is that these probably have a short shelf life ’cause there is the borderline paper flavor note that you get with tobacco that doesn’t have much more life in it or was just not that flavorful to begin with. So smoke up quickly y’all, this is a pretty decent stick with a greater price tag. Keep smoking my friends,…

I haven’t seen these around here yet. I’ll be sure to pick one up if I do. Thanks for the review.

I noticed these at B&M I went to up in Louisville over the weekend. He was just bringing in some boxes he had received. I should have picked some up, but I was on a mission for something else. Great review though I’m looking forward to picking up a couple of these.
