This highly anticipated cigar is the result of collaboration between Arturo Fuente and Ashton. There were hitches in the development process which led to delays, including fires in the Arturo Fuente factory. This didn’t stop this dynamic duo from coming out with a popular and highly rated cigar—the first since 2006 to bear the Ashton name.

The Ashton Symmetry is available in five different sizes: Belicoso, Prestige (Churchill), Prism (Corona), Robusto and Sublime (Toro). For this review, I smoked the 5” x 50 Robusto.

Appearance : Rating: ★★★★★
This is a very nice-looking stogie with a wrapper that has a rich golden brown color. It is very smooth and has a pronounced oily sheen with few prominent veins. The label colors are offset nicely by the color of the wrapper. The overall effect is very pleasing to the eye. As it turns out, it is also a great representation for the quality within.

Construction : Rating: ★★★★½
This cigar smokes as smooth as it looks. I had zero problems with the draw, which was perfect and consistent throughout. The burn was also quite even and consistent, needing only minor touchups here and there.

Flavor : Rating: ★★★★½
The flavors during the first third are a combination of woods (cedar and oak I believe), spices, and a hint of toast and fruit. The spices become stronger going into the middle third, and there are hints of something smoky and musky which reminds me a bit of sitting out at a campfire in the woods. Underneath it all is leather. The spicy notes take a decline in the final third, and at this point the toast takes front and center stage. The roasted flavors materialize as nuts, and there is a hint of cream rounding everything out. Now I am getting a whiff of something floral—flowers by the campfire. The leather note is prominent throughout. All in all, it is a unique and intriguing flavor profile.

Value : Rating: ★★★★☆
Being as this is a really good cigar and I have zero other complaints, it is hard for me to get too down about the price, though I do wish it were a couple dollars cheaper. It isn’t an everyday smoke at this price point, and I wish it could be. But it is well worth the cost.

Overall Rating : Rating: ★★★★½
I can’t really dock a star because of the slightly higher price—which in the grand scheme of things still is not that bad. In terms of appearance, flavors and construction, the Ashton Symmetry Robusto is excellent, and a great return for the Ashton brand name.
